Telecommunications Department of Electronics and Telecommunications University has its roots in the ancien training for "weak currents" of Politechnical School of Bucharest.

It has a rich tradition in the educational and research fields and in the cooperation with the telecommunication network operators and with the specialists of the national industry. The founders of romanian telecommunication training have been the members of this department: prof. Ph.D Academician Tudor Tanasescu, prof Ph.D Academician Gheorghe Cartianu, prof. Ph.D Sergiu Condrea, prof. Ph.D P. Postelnicu, prof.Ph.D Mugur Savescu, prof.Ph.D Academician Edmond Nicolau.

The main proposal of the Telecommunication Deprtment are:

to prepare engineers for the communication fields
to assure the fundamental courses for all students of the faculty
to specialise telecommunication engineers by:

-organising the post-academic studies (Master) and continuos training

-managing the Ph.D stages and doctoral thesis

to assure courses for all three sections of the Department of Engineering Sciences: english, french and german.

The number of specialists witch obtain each year theirs diplomas is 250 (on average). Besides them, about 30 students finish each year the "Telecommunication" College.

50 teaching staff, 35 engineers and technicians and 50 associate specialists and Ph.D students activate together in this Department.
