Gheorghe Cartianu (1907 - 1982 ) Founder of Romanian Electronics School among Iancu Constantinescu, Tudor Tanasescu, Sergiu Condrea, he is also a remarkable creator and leader of scientific research school.

Having an impressive speciality knowledge based on a solid mathematical background, Gheorghe Cartianu is one of those who developed Romanian electronics education. "Signal, Circuits and Systems" a fundamental theoretical part in the preparation of any electronics engineer was created by Gheorghe Cartianu. In respect for his whole life dedicated to scientific researches we set out briefly his biography.

Gheorghe Cartianu was born in Borca, Neamt. He graduated high school in Bacau and The Polytechnic University (Electromechanical department). In the same period he attended The Mathematics at University in Bucharest. Since 1993 he worked for Broadcasting Society, then he became assistant of Ernest Abason and Tudor Tanasescu. His research activity focused on :

His most important results belong to Stability of electrical systems and Frequency modulation. These fields were his constant work. His research studies regarding the stability of electrical systems are primarily theoretical ones, but they all come from experimental activities. he convey a general formula for the stability of linear and non-linear circuits using the variation versus frequency of the reactance of the dipole connected to active electrical systems. He couched a new stability criterion and he classified some debated aspects referring to electrical systems with negative resistance. Then he generalised his stability criterion for the non-linear systems using the linearisation method proposed by Krilov.
