Augustin Maior ( 1882 - 1963 ) is considered to be the first leader in the Romanian physics school. He did his special studies in Gottingen University. He founded the first telegraphic and telephonic school in Transilvania ( at Sibiu). He designed telephonic equipment based on carrying currents (the capacity ofthe system was five lines and it was working at a distance of 15 km). His researches focused on thermodynamics, cuantic mechanics and the gravitation theory.
